Abstract

The objective of the article was to determine the incidence of a values program on school violence among General Secondary Education students. Theoretically, it was based on the scientific support of Bandura (1994), Pintus (2005), Buzali (2004), Camargo (2003), among others. The research was at an explanatory level, a field experiment, with a pre-experimental design of the same group with pre-test and post-test. The population was made up of 25 students from 1st, 2nd. and 3rd. year of both genders (female and male), referred to the guidance department for presenting aggressive behaviors, belonging to the U.E.P Educational Unit. “San Leonardo Murialdo”, located in the Maracaibo municipality. The instrument used was a questionnaire designed by the researchers that consisted of 20 items on the Likert scale. For content validity, the instrument was evaluated by three experts. To determine reliability, a pilot test was applied through Cronbach, obtaining 0.99. When applying the Student t test, it presented a significance level of 0.00 lower than the allowed index of 0.05; which shows that there was a significant change between the pretest and the posttest. The result shows a decrease in school violence from high to moderately high. The value expressed in the mean 2.97 allows us to conclude that the values program was effective in the young people studied. Because it represents alternatives to change violent behavior and reduce school violence.
