Abstract

The purpose of the article was to analyze environmental public policies as mechanisms to conserve the ecological heritage of Venezuela. The research was a qualitative and documentary approach. To collect information, the documentary technique was used, therefore, a bibliographic review of different documents and authors was applied that show the theoretical perspective of each reference. The results show that in Venezuelan environmental public policies, weakness is evident in their execution, due to the lack of financial and technical resources, deficiency in coordination of the different levels of government and the need for greater participation and environmental awareness on the part of the social actors. In conclusion, environmental public policies in Venezuela are fundamental to guarantee the right to a healthy environment, conserve biodiversity, mitigate climate change, prevent environmental problems and promote citizen participation
