Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze maintenance management in the Venezuelan Petrochemical Industry, using a mixed methodology, based on direct observation, as well as bibliographic foundation. The research is descriptive and field-based, where the information has been taken from the Venezuelan Petrochemical Industrial sector. As a result, the current maintenance system presents weaknesses in the execution of activities, by reducing these opportunities for improvement by applying decision-making to optimize maintenance practices (preventive and predictive) in petrochemical industrial processes. through an adequate planning of resources, aimed at minimizing maintenance costs, which will allow to achieve a better management in maintenance, managing to reduce the consumption of primary sources of energy (oil, coal and gas), resulting in an increase in the production of the petrochemical sector to meet the demand required by the processing companies through the implementation of alternative energies and therefore, mitigate environmental pollution due to equipment failure(s).
